I think we’re all keen to leave 2020 behind and head into 2021 with renewed hope and a spring in our step. With that in mind, it seems entirely appropriate that Dulux have revealed their new Colour of the Year for 2021 – Brave Ground. Selected by an expert panel, this warm earthy tone has been chosen as a bolstering shade that connects back to nature and the simple things in life. According to Dulux, it creates a feeling of stability, growth and potential, providing a solid foundation for both change and creativity.

We’ve scoured the web to find our favourite interior products to reflect or complement this new Brave Ground shade.

Warm up indoors

Add some rustic warmth to your conservatory or French doors with these DuoShade Basket Weave Pleated Blinds from Blinds 2go (from £23.28, made to measure). While a doddle to measure and install, they represent the ultimate in thermal shading, keeping you toasty in winter and cool in summer – which should also save you money on your energy bills too!

Make bedtime even cosier

Introduce a Brave Ground shade into your bedroom with a new headboard or bed. We love this Montrose Storage Bed in Mink from MY Furniture (from £659.99). The Montrose bed has been upholstered in a luxe mink velvet fabric. It incorporates deep buttoning and a smart wing feature into the headboard. What’s more, the gas lift mechanism provides easy opening for a large internal storage area to tuck away your spare bedding, cushions and suitcases. Accessorize this beautiful bed with a matching throw – carry on reading for suggestions!

Where in the World?

We think this wall mural is a fitting analogy for Brave Ground. To add this classic, yet stylish map to your living room, dining room or, even, bedroom, have a look at this Coffee Brown World Map. Designed by Rosana Laiz Garcia for Wallsauce (from £34 per sq metre). We guarantee you’ll be spending all your time plotting where you’re going to head to next.

Make your home happy

This sweet Spike Taupe Roman Blind, designed by Scion, from Blinds 2go. Priced from £31.15, made to measure, it will bring a sense of fun and happiness to your interiors. The simple, neutral colour palette will not only look fabulous against a painted Brave Ground backdrop, but can also be teamed with warm greys, bright whites and sunshine yellows.

Calming bathrooms

This gorgeous bathroom has been painted in a colour, similar to Brave Ground, and has a calming, soothing appeal. You could add some beautiful accessories to complement this shade. On-trend metallics – particularly gold are both great choices if you want to create a warm feel. If you love the look of this minimalist shower, it’s the Matki-One Pivot

Snuggle up

There’s nothing like a decadent, luxuriant throw to make you look forward to going to bed or snuggling up on the sofa. This Super Soft Faux-Fur Throw from The White Company (from £150) comes in four different shades including the one pictured here in Mink. You can also buy matching cushions and hot water bottle covers. What’s not to love?

Velvet appeal

Introduce the luxe feel of Brave Ground with sumptuous velvets. We love this Pino Three Seat Sofa in Taupe from MY Furniture (from £999.99). This striking sofa has been inspired by the American Art Deco period, featuring a black-stained ash base with gorgeous brushed brass detailing. We love how this version of Brave Ground is complemented by peacock blue.

Keep your feet toasty

There’s nothing like a sumptuous rug to add some warmth to your floors. We’ve discovered this Calvin Klein Lunar Rug in Foal which gives a gorgeous earthy tone to your interiors while feeling so lovely underfoot! It’s from Amara Living (from £299). Hand loomed from soft viscose, the series of high and low-lying pile creates a textural ribbed pattern.

A touch of tropical

We’re thinking Brave NEW Ground. Hit two trends in one with this beautiful Ubud Canvas Wallpaper from Graham & Brown (from £60 per roll). Not only does it have a striking similarity to the Brave Ground paint shade, but it is also inspired by the global interiors trend – based on tropical Balinese forests, featuring playful monkeys. A subtle added shimmer gives it a sense of bold, adventurous styling.

Tile, tile, tile

Create a striking wall in your bathroom with these Cottage Mink Matt Tiles from Tile Giant (from 39p per tile). The handmade style of their Cottage range will add a rustic, vintage feel to your bathroom. This tile is also available with a gloss finish.
