The days are getting longer, trees and flowers are bursting into life and we’re getting in the mood for a good old-fashioned spring clean. But it’s not just by going outside that you can immerse yourself in the glorious season of spring, put winter behind you and add a rejuvenating spring vibe to your interiors.

Here are our top tips for introducing the feel of spring into your home:

Introduce a Taste of the Tropics

One of the key trends described by Ideal Home magazine for this year is ‘Soft Tropics.’ We love the idea of bringing a tropical sunshine feel into the home. Palm prints are a key motif for this look and we think the tropical leafy pattern of the Kentia Linen Leaf blind from £25.75 from Blinds 2Go is the perfect way to add a taste of the tropics.

Floral Statement Chair

You can’t go wrong by adding a statement piece of furniture to update the look of a room. The stylish Daphne chair from MY Furniture has been catapulted into spring, with gorgeous fabric coverings from renowned fabric and wallpaper designers, Harlequin.

Bursting with colour and style, these lounge chairs will inject some life into your home after the dreary winter season. With bold florals, snazzy geometrics and painterly effects, they are right on trend and will suit any room, priced from £199.99.

Maximalism

Have you come across the new trend for maximalism? The dominance of minimalism and Scandi design is about to get a shake up. In its place, bright colours and bold patterns are becoming more prevalent in the home. We think this Still Life Grey Wallpaper Mural from Woodchip & Magnolia from £150 is the perfect look for spring and creates a true maximalist statement.

Hints of Florals

The use of white paint, rustic wood and natural materials such as basket weave is a key look for 2019. Soften it with a floral hint, like these Fairhaven Amethyst roller blinds from Blinds 2Go from £27.65. Their watercolour design and vivid palette of lavenders and violets adds a touch of romance and nature this spring. These Fairhaven blinds are also available in two other different colour palettes – ‘Blossom’ and ‘Carnival.’

Vibrant Spring Colours

Add vibrant, zesty colours to update a neutral colour palette. You can do this simply by adding cushions, curtains, blinds and rugs or even a new piece of furniture. These Alveare tub chairs from £389.99 from MY Furniture are now available in two fabulous spring shades, Ochre and Orange velvet. They feature laser-cut hexagonal detailing, giving a nod to American mid-century furniture. Choose from a Brass, Copper or Silver frame to co-ordinate seamlessly with your other furnishings.

Botanical Bedding

It’s not just florals you can add to your home to bring a spring vibe, but nature-inspired botanical prints too. This Botanical duvet and pillowcase set, from £90 from Bluebell Gray, adds a bold statement piece to a bedroom and evokes that reviving feeling of the great outdoors. This particular design was inspired by the plants and trees of Le Jardin Secret in Marrakech. It incorporates painterly, botanical florals in a zesty colour palette – perfect for spring.

Bring the Outside in

Introduce one or two houseplants into your living areas. Not only do they enhance your health and wellbeing, but they also look pretty and remind you of days outside exploring parks and gardens. We love this look created by Instagrammer meeschmid_plantlady, who it seems can’t get enough of plants in her home. Not only can you use potted plants on the floor or shelves, but think about adding hanging plants too.

Going Green

According to Elle Décor, one of the colour trends for 2019 is a contemporary twist on forest greens, inspired by nature, to bring the healing properties of the outdoors into the home. This can be done by way of paint, furnishings or accessories. We’re rather drawn to the revitalizing colour of this Miasto sofa in emerald green velvet from MY Furniture from £479.99.
