Country-style interiors are one look that never seems to go out of fashion. And you don’t even need to live in the countryside to add some country chic to your home. The good news is there is no set theme, country style interiors can include a subtly eclectic mix of romantic florals, painted or natural wood furnishings, elegant mirrors, chandelier pendant lighting, natural textures, comfy sofas and wood panelling. We’ve put together some ideas below to inspire you to create this look.

Botanical prints

Adding botanical prints to your home introduces the wonderful feel of the great outdoors. Designer, Clarissa Hulse, uses the flowers, leaves and grasses she sees on her countryside rambles to create her stunning fabric designs. We think this Tropical Leaves Moss Roman blind (made to measure, from £32.45), designed by Clarissa for Blinds 2Go, brings a touch of sophistication to a country-style home with its modern take on a garden print. This ‘Tropical Leaves’ design is also available in other colours.

Open-shelving

Open shelves in kitchens bring a real sense of country style. For a natural and eco-friendly approach, you could even make your own out of reclaimed wood. We love the look of this country kitchen, featuring open shelves and lots of natural wood, from @no14hectorshouse on Instagram.

Bathroom fittings

Give your bathroom a country-chic upgrade with some new taps. The Invincible range from Swadling Brassware is traditional, yet contemporary. The Wall Mounted Basin Mixer taps feature period detailing and an elegant spout. Made of brass, they are available in a variety of finishes including the stunning Brushed Gold pictured here. The matching Floor Mounted Manual Bath/Shower mixer adds a beautiful bathroom centrepiece for a freestanding bath. To integrate your taps into your interior scheme, match them with light fittings and mirrors.

Gallery wall

Have some fun designing your own gallery wall, using framed prints of fruits, flowers and leaves to create a country vibe.  A gallery wall can become a real focal point and add bags of personality. We love these prints from Oka, which come ready-framed and ready to hang. If you’re feeling extra creative, you could make your own out of pressed leaves and flowers you’ve foraged for yourself.

Leafy prints

William Morris is the epitome of country styling. This nature-inspired design will work well with soft neutral or clean white backdrops. Designed in collaboration with the V&A Museum, these Acanthus Celadon Curtains (made to measure, from £47.85), from Curtains 2Go’s William Morris collection, will add natural charm with their lush leaves in a variety of gorgeous greens. William Morris believed large patterns could work well in any space, large or small, suggesting they are more restful than small patterns.

Country-style furnishings

Wooden furniture pieces are perfect for country interiors. The Provencal-style Les Milles range from MY Furniture will bring loads of character to your home. The handcrafted oak has been subtly lime-washed oak to give it a vintage appearance. Featured here are the Les Milles Glass Cabinet, Bookshelf, Media Unit and Dining Table.

Feeling fruity

Fruity prints can be used as an alternative to florals in bringing a natural burst of colour into country-style interiors. The ‘Fruit’ design pictured here is one of William Morris’ earliest, yet one of his most enduringly popular designs. It’s also known as ‘Pomegranate’ among Morris fans. This Fruit Primrose Roman Blind, designed for Blinds 2Go in collaboration with the V&A Museum (made to measure, from £33.35) offers a classic combination of cool grey and warm ochre, perfect for some country chic.

Country crockery

You don’t have to have an entire makeover to give yourself a taste of the countryside. How about some new crockery or kitchen accessories instead? Emma Bridgewater epitomises traditional English country style. We love this Figs design from her new Vegetable Garden range, which you can mix and match with her iconic Toast and Marmalade design. We think it’s too lovely to hide away in cupboards, so why not show it off on a country-style dresser? If you love Emma Bridgewater’s designs, check out her range of binds at Blinds 2Go.

Bathroom chic

Give your bathroom a country-style makeover with painted wood panelling, new floor tiling and perhaps even a claw-foot bath. The good news is showers, baths and toilets don’t have to be traditionally designed to fit into this type of interior scheme. Pictured here, the Matki Eauzone Shower Enclosure Plus Hinged Door with Hinge Panel shows how wood-look tiles and painted wood panelling can be beautifully offset with a sleek, minimalist shower.

Wooden chairs

This gorgeous, French Limed Oak Oval Back Dining Chair from MY Furniture (from £174.99) will add character and elegance to stylish country interiors. The oak has been subtly lime-washed for a chic distressed look, and features a delightful carved flower detail at the top of the legs. The comfortable seat is upholstered in a lovely, neutral shade of grey, which will fit into most colour palettes. These chairs can be used as dining chairs, or singularly in your living room or bedroom.
